After our home tour on The Everygirl, I have been asked about my living room’s IKEA Hack: DIY Floating TV Console. I was looking for a modern and inexpensive tv console, but had trouble finding one. We decided to attach two Ikea Besta frame cabinets on the wall with door fronts to create one long, floating tv console. To add some texture to the wall, we did a white wash wood treatment. I accessorized with a gold antler and agate box to keep the TV controllers neatly tucked away. I love keeping our wedding guest book The Impossible Collection of Cars out on our console with a few of our favorite framed photos.
To balance all the white, we got an oversized grey couch and grey and white shag rug <similar here>. If you’re going to splurge on a piece, I think a neutral couch is a good investment. We chose a microfiber that looks like velvet, but is better for wiping off spills. On our couch, we have custom “BL” monogram pillows from our wedding with Caitlin Wilson gold scallop and Mongolian fur pillows <similar here>. Our tufted coffee table <similar here> has worked out great with Grace learning how to walk. One thing I can’t live without is Sonos! We play music more than watch TV now.
Another one of my all time favorite IKEA hacks is the Dorothy Draper chest by the IKEA Hackers. This style chest is a perfect addition to a nursery or guest room.

Do you buy the door separate? There are so many besta units and some come already with the doors
Hi Paulina!
We bought two of these and hung them on the wall https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S79047429/
Love this idea!
How did you hang the shelves to the wall? Did you have to purchase something for that?
We screwed them into the wall with brackets that were strong enough for the weight.
How long is the floating tv stand and also your Tv if you don’t mind me asking?
floating tv stand is 94 in long and the tv is 65 in by tv standards and 57 inches long
