Lately I have been working on my hubby and I’s master bedroom in our new home. A couple years ago, you may recall this blog post where I shared the Blush Border Frame Duvet and Shams, Blush Oxford Stripe Sheet Set and Del Mar Cotton Throw that we got from Serena & Lily, our partners in design. We still love this bedding so much, and I’ve been wanting to build onto our bedroom collection with a few more pieces. I recently spotted their Diamond Jute Rug and thought it would be perfect for adding style and soft texture to our room!
Before
When we recently bought a home, we wanted a fixer upper project but it had to be move-in friendly. One of the biggest things for us was moving into a home that didn’t need all new floors right away. The tile in our home is perfectly fine for now, and we have covered most of the floors with jute rugs. Except for our bedroom. This space was bare tile and it was a pretty hard surface to step onto when getting in and out of bed. See Exhibit A above.
After
In the past, we have always had wall to wall carpet in our bedrooms, so I wasn’t sure what kind of rug I wanted to use over our bedroom tile. In our other rooms, I went really simple and natural with braided jute rugs that have a more raw look. For the bedroom, I first thought about doing a bolder patterned Turkish rug, but it was hard for me to commit long term to colors and pattern. Finally, I decided that I wanted a balance of natural rug with a pattern, so when I spotted Serena & Lily’s Diamond Jute Rug, I knew we would love it!
When the new jute rug arrived, it was even more beautiful in person! It is a creamy color that compliments the other colors in the room and the diamond pattern on the rug really stands out! It added another layer of style and texture and is so cozy to walk on. The 8×10 size fits perfectly under our king sized bed and peeks out just enough all around it. All of Serena & Lily’s pieces are so high-quality, so I know this rug will last for many years!
In addition to the jute rug, I also added new side tables with blush lamps, table frames, vases, books, shells and other collectibles. Above the side tables, I hung a pair of framed vintage bird and botanical prints from 23 ARTS on Etsy and framed them through Framebridge. The flamingo art is exactly what I wanted and was so reasonable. Plus, they look beautiful in the gold frames by Framebridge, which is so easy to do. You just upload the prints, order and they arrive ready to go at your door! And I love the mixture of textures between the bamboo butler tray and the gold bamboo frames, as well as the other goodies.
To complete the bed, I got these rose patterned euro shams and paired them with my favorite blush and raffia decorative pillows from Serena & Lily. In the near future, I would love to reupholster the headboard and do some kind of fun canopy above it. Stay tuned!
