When we began the renovation on the “Sisters Suite” by Serena & Lily and Palm Beach Lately at The Colony, we called on the same trusted partners who worked with us on the Pineapple Pad – Hobgood Construction, Waterview Kitchens and Treasure Coast Carpet and Interiors. We were looking forward to updating the tiny kitchen and knew the small space had so much potential, so we lightened it up with hints of mint and modernized it!
Since it’s a short-term rental, we wanted to have a little fun with the kitchen and use the retro style mint Smeg refrigerator and matching toaster and Cafe Appliances. We also took out the upper cabinets which opened up the space and allowed us to create a striped awning, one of our favorite elements that brings the feeling of the outdoors inside, with rattan counter stools under it. We removed the upper cabinets and replaced with open shelving and styled with bowls and tumblers from Juliska and raffia glassware from Lindroth Design. We filled in the odd space to the left of the awning to allow for one of our other favorite decor elements, orchids in Amanda Lindroth’s scallop baskets on wall brackets.
Patty from Waterview Kitchens helped us update the kitchen with white Shaker cabinets. Patty and her husband, Jim, have owned Waterview Kitchens for more than six years and create custom cabinetry for any kitchen, bath, bar, home theater, mudroom, closet, laundry, outdoor kitchens, or any other space where architectural millwork is desired. They have streamlined the process into three phases making a smooth transition from the initial meeting to the installation. Her expertise was very helpful when it came to the unique measurements of the Smeg refrigerator and tight corner of the utensil drawer and stove.
Joy from Treasure Coast Carpet & Interiors and her highly trained team assisted us with our vision to shiplap the kitchen and subway tile above the stove. We made a few trips to the showroom that is bursting with samples of carpet, tile for floors and walls, wood, laminate, reclaimed beams, mantels, blinds, shutters and more. We love that they are family owned and operated and have been there for more than 27 years! Treasure Coast Carpet & Interiors also assisted with the restoring the Mexican tile, updating the bathroom tiles and carpeting the two Master Suites.
